NDDB rebuts its Chairman's interest in being Chairman GCMMF

There have been some totally incorrect and misleading news reports that the Chairman NDDB is in the race for GCMMF Chairmanship. It appears that a wholly avoidable situation is being created by vested interests.
When Dr Kurien ceased to be the Chairman of GCMMF, there were suggestions from some quarters that Dr Amrita Patel, Chairman NDDB, should take over as Chairman of GCMMF. Dr Amrita Patel had then made her stand amply clear that the Chairman of the federation should be elected from amongst the Chairmen of the milk unions in Gujarat. In fact, she has always held the view that it is not appropriate for the Chairman of NDDB to be the Chairman of Gujarat or any other State Cooperative Dairy Federation.
At the request of some elected Chairmen of Gujarat milk unions, Dr Amrita Patel had agreed to be a ‘special invitee’ and attended a few Board meetings only with a view to provide stability to the Federation in its transition but has not attended any Board meeting for the last two years.
It is regretted that National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) is being dragged into an issue which is solely the concern of the 13 district milk unions of Gujarat.
